SACRAMENTO —?Community leader and activist Alan Nishio was honored posthumously on May 13 during the State Legislature’s celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

“I was honored to recognize, posthumously, Alan Nishio of Gardena as an honoree,” Muratsuchi said. “Nishio, who passed away in December, was a leader of the National Coalition for Redress and Reparations, which fought for reparations for Japanese Americans who were unjustly incarcerated in American concentration camps during World War II. He also served as the president of the Board of Directors for the Little Tokyo Service Center for over 12 years and served 36 years as a member of the board.”
